About the Artwork

A Chick in a Waiter’s Tailcoat

The VOV chick waiter poster puts a yellow chick in a black tailcoat and sends it striding across a deep blue field. The bird carries a tray with a pale bottle. Its open beak and long stepping legs give the still image the sense of an entrance.

Artwork and design

Fine white lines separate the bow tie and coat sleeves from the dark background. Pale blue script loops above the bird and again beneath its feet. The green label and small red cap add color to the otherwise pale bottle.

About this advertisement

Mazza’s signature is visible below the tray. The artwork calls the drink zabajone and names G. B. Pezziol in Padova. The choice of a chick suits the egg-based liqueur and makes the serving scene memorable.

Rooms and interiors

Hang it over a game room cabinet or in a kitchen with blue and cream accents. Against pale paint, the dark field creates a clear frame for the light blue lettering and the brisk little figure.
