About the Artwork

A Giant Goblet Above a Red Cape

The Bière Allary giant goblet poster shows a red-clad figure hoisting a round beer glass. Its stem tilts forward as white foam spills toward one corner. Blue and green open out behind the costume. The large yellow Allary name sits below the dangling legs on a clear black ground.

Artwork and design

The clear bowl holds a broad area of golden beer, crossed by a pale reflection. The lifted arm gives the glass a place to balance. The crossed white bands on the figure’s leggings repeat the light of the foam. The little gold sword hilt is visible where the cloak folds behind the figure.

About this advertisement

A matching Allary design by Jean d’Ylen is catalogued to around 1925. The huge glass takes the role of a theatrical prop. Color and scale make the beer recognizable before the poster’s lettering is read, while the costume keeps the presentation lively without needing a drawn stage.

Rooms and interiors

Give the print room on a game-room wall with blue or black accents. A pale surround can make the bright foam and large glass especially clear. Its scale and dark field will hold their own beside smaller brewery signs or a low drinks shelf.
