About the Artwork

A Pour in Midair

The Costumé Canetta red acrobat poster shows a leaping figure holding a large bottle above his head. A small glass is raised just below the neck of the bottle. Red along the figure’s arms and legs keeps the whole gesture clear on black, with the yellow name close to the lower edge.

Artwork and design

The figure’s torso twists in the opposite direction from his outstretched leg. A few thin curved marks follow that movement and leave most of the dark field open. Gold in the bottle and tiny glass supplies a brief contrast to the broad red shapes of the body.

About this advertisement

Italy’s national cultural heritage catalogue credits Franco Aloy for the design of a figure pouring from a bottle into a glass. The label names the Canetta aperitif, and the artist turns a familiar serving gesture into an acrobatic one. The oversized bottle allows the commercial name to remain visible within the action.

Rooms and interiors

Choose a room with dark wood or pale walls and enough space for the figure’s full leap. A warm brass or amber accent picks up the bottle and the lettering. Hang it near a drinks cart or another Italian print with a quieter arrangement.
